Federal Work Study Remote Positions

WVU’s Office of Accessibility Services seeks students with strong spelling and grammar skills and attention to detail to serve as Alternative and Accessible Format Editors for students with print disabilities and faculty creating accessible course materials. With the guidance of experienced Alternative and Accessible Format Graduate Assistants, the Alternative & Accessible Format Editor will edit documents while ensuring accessibility or preferred formatting of students with disabilities. This is a great resume builder. Training is provided. Work is currently done remotely.

Requirements:

  • Preference given to students who received an A or B in CS 101 and experience with Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Excellent spelling and grammar skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to follow precise editing guidelines
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Access to a computer with strong Internet connection
  • Web-based training and supervision

Graduate Assistant Hybrid Position

WVU’s Office of Accessibility Services seeks a graduate student with strong spelling and grammar skills and attention to detail to serve as an Accessible Format Graduate Assistant (AFGA) for faculty creating accessible course materials. As the Accessible Format Graduate Assistants, Alternative & Accessible Format Editor Federal Work Study Students will edit documents accessibility. The AFGA will then review materials produced by federal work studies and ensure they meet guidelines set forth by OAS before providing them to the requested faculty. The AFGA will oversee all projects being produced by student workers, ensuring timelines are being monitored and met. The AFGA will also assist with addressing more complex accessibility issues identified by student workers. During peak times of the semester, the AFGA will be asked to assist at the Office of Accessibility Services Testing Center to assist with proctoring of students taking exams. This is a great resume builder. Training is provided. Work is currently done remotely except when asked to present to the Testing Center.

Students who will be hired for the positions will be notified by August 1st by email with instructions on how to process through WVU payroll by August 12th. Students who are not hired will also be notified by August 1st. These positions are limited. Start Dates are assigned by HR and often begin the first week of classes.
