2018-2019 Scholarship Opportunities Available

Below students can find information on six scholarships.

Update: Scholarship applications for the 2018-2019 year were due May 4, 2018 by 5pm. See our Scholarships page for current information.

All application amounts are to be determined. The scholarships will be awarded depending on the availability of funds, which has yet to be determined.

Brenda Biafora Scholarship

The Brenda Biafora Scholarship may be awarded to an Eberly College undergraduate major with mental illness or behavioral challenges to aid the student in moving forward and completing a degree at West Virginia University. Recipients are selected by the Dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences in consultation with the Office of Accessibility Services and the Financial Aid Office.


Sparagna Scholarship

The Frances Anthony Sparagna III Scholarship may be awarded to an undergraduate student with a learning disability or a physical disability who demonstrates academic promise and is majoring in an Arts and Sciences degree program at West Virginia University. Recipients are selected by the Dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences in consultation with the Office of Accessibility Services and the Financial Aid Office.


Milan Roh Endowed Scholarship

The Milan Roh Endowed Scholarship was established in June 2000 to benefit qualified students attending West Virginia University who have a documented disability. Awards are made through the WVU Office of Financial Aid with assistance from the WVU Office of Accessibility Services.
Eligible students must:

  • Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student on the WVU Morgantown Campus
  • Have a documented disability verified by the WVU Office of Accessibility Services (preference given to students with physical disabilities)
  • Be receiving accommodations through the WVU Office of Accessibility Services
  • Have demonstrated a financial need, as determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid
  • Have achieved satisfactory academic progress and not be graduating the semester of the award
If awarded, the award will be decided during the spring semester 2016, and provided for the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters.

Nancy B. McClintock Scholarship

The Nancy B. McClintock Scholarship was established in 2013 to provide funds to and benefit qualified undergraduate students attending West Virginia University for the academic year. The award is specifically for students who use a wheelchair on a daily basis. Awards are made through the WVU Office of Financial Aid with assistance from the WVU Office of Accessibility Services.
Eligible students must:
  • Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at WVU
  • Have a documented disability that requires the use of a wheelchair on a daily basis as verified by the WVU Office of Accessibility Services
  • Be receiving accommodations through the WVU Office of Accessibility Services
  • Have demonstrated a financial need, as determined by the WVU Office of Financial Aid
If no students are available to meet the criteria of daily wheelchair use, other students with physical disabilities may receive the scholarship

John C. Solomon Scholarship

The John C. Solomon Scholarship was established in August 1995 to benefit qualified full-time West Virginia University undergraduate students with a disability who have a demonstrated financial need. Preference for the award will be given to students with physical disabilities; however, students with other disabilities will be considered as well.
Applicants must have graduated from a Monongalia County high school. Awards will be made through the West Virginia Department of Financial Aid with assistance from the Office of Accessibility Services.


Esther L. Crane Endowed Scholarship

The Ester L. Crane Scholarship was established in 2012 to benefit qualified student veterans attending West Virginia University who have a documented disability. Awards are made through the WVU Office of Financial Aid with assistance from the WVU Office of Accessibility Services. Eligible students must:
  • Be an undergraduate student on the WVU Morgantown Campus
  • Be a West Virginia resident
  • Be a United States Military Veteran
  • Have a documented disability , as verified by the WVU Office of Accessibility Services
